Mojiphic Works

Mojiphic ” is a new artwork’s category created by Moji Gallery that abstracts and expresses the shapes and forms of Kanji in the form of graphics using the techniques and expression methods of calligraphy.The world of sumi ink, which uses the line quality and margins of calligraphy to depict the meaning of the characters, landscapes, and scenes, opens up a variety of imaginations in the viewer’s mind.Calligraphic artworks, which are based on Kanji that have meanings, allow the viewer to appreciate both the meaning and the form of the kanji characters at the same time. The enjoyment of the mingling of meaning and form is what makes calligraphy art so enjoyable.

The first priority was to create a space for relaxation, and the soft ink color and flowing lines of the calligraphy abstracted the character for “kizuna” (bond).

Mojiphic 「 華 _ Glorious / Floral 」 Calligrapher: Kei Shimizu Place of installation: Private residence

This artwork is an abstraction of the ancient Japanese character for “flower,” which represents flowering plants and trees. The artwork is a collage of fine, supple calligraphy lines, urushi washi paper, and red ink dyed washi paper.

Mojiphic 「 洋 _ Wide and big sea 」 Calligrapher: Kei Shimizu Place of installation: Private residence

This artwork is an abstraction of one of the characters in the client’s name, “You,” which means a large ocean. The frame was designed in burgundy to match the wishes of the client, who enjoys wine.
